Stretching further back than I can remember, my extended family makes
summer trips up to the Sierras. This annual affair began with my dad's
family, and later, after marrying my mom, the Kiser-clan joined in as
well. These lakes and camping spots have seen quite a bit of our family
history. Everything important seems to happen at Silver Lake, from
first fish and two wheel bicycles, to two weddings and a funeral. The
latest wedding in the family was celebrate in late July overlooking the
lake and the imperial Sierra Nevada mountain range. Pete and Jenni
Kiser's wedding was a beautiful, if sometimes windy, success.
Robyn, a friend of mine from the olden days, was also married this summer, in our hometown. Her cake was made by her sister, Ashley who spent the summer practicing in their mom's kitchen. The results were outstanding. I'm so blown away by her homemade cake, it's amazing when a little DIY can turn into something so beautiful and professional!
